The Bruery just keeps churning out new beers. Some hitting the mark, some not, but always interesting. The next one on my “gotta try” list from them is the Smoking Wood, a Smoked Imperial Rye Porter aged in rye whiskey barrels. The malt is beachwood and cherrywood smoked, and the 2012 variety that I have clocks in at 13% ABV.

My top three favorite beverages are water, coffee, and beer. So naturally I search out any coffee-infused beer that I can. Recently, I came across the C4 Double Coffee Brown Ale from 8 Wired Brewing Co. out of New Zealand. I’ve had a few of 8 Wired’s offerings in the past, and remember enjoying them. Plus this was a new coffee beer for me, so I was already sold.

Sharing beer is something I absolutely love doing, and in some cases it can be a helpful thing. Earlier this week, Nick and I shared a new lot of beer, one being Brewdog’s Paradox Jura I brought down. At 15% ABV, this massive Double/Imperial Stout was “aged in Jura Whisky [sic] casks for 9 months.” Usually when we’re having a few beers in a night, one of this caliber is meant to share.

Clown Shoes is rapidly becoming one of my go to breweries, their beers have proven to be tasty and interesting. A few weeks ago I had the Vampire Slayer on draft, but didn’t take notes for a review. When I found it again in a bottle I had to pick one up.

For the past few weeks, I kept passing over the 4-pack of the Imperial Series Wee Heavy from Samuel Adams and every time it called my name. Seeing the pack again tonight, I ended up biting the bullet and picked it up. The beer touts itself as a Wee Heavy/Imperial Scotch Ale at an impressive 10% ABV.
