Since New Beligum made its way into my area I have been seeking out every beer I could find. Many of these beers have been from the Lips of Faith series, and they have been hit or miss so far. Today I have the Prickly Passion Saison, which is brewed using prickly pear and passion fruit. These two ingredients don’t make their way into beer often so I’m excited to see how it turns out.

Fegley’s Brew Works has consistently done well with their beer, with one of my favorite pumpkin beers being their Devious Imperial Pumpkin Ale. Shane and I featured their Monkey Wrench Saison last summer on a video episode. I found a different take on that same beer with the annual spring/summer release of the Space Money Raspberry Saison.

Up today for an in-depth look is the very local Philadelphia Brewing Company’s Rowhouse Red, their Farmhouse/Saison style Ale. Refreshingly average for the style is a stamp of 5% ABV for this 12 ounce bottle. Pictured on the front is what appears to be an elegant looking rowhouse, hopefully situated somewhere in Philadelphia.

The Saison du BUFF (Brewers United for Freedom of Flavor), is a collaborative beer between Stone Brewing Company, Victory Brewing Company and Dogfish Head. This Saison/Farmhouse style ale was initially brewed at Stone in April 2010, and then brewed at Victory in July 2010 and finally at Dogfish this month, August 2010.

This week, Shane and Nick have got two more beers to enjoy and discuss in lovely Philadelphia once again. First up is the Flying Fish Exit 6, which was actually just released during Philly Beer Week 2010 in June and also the Fegley’s Brew Works (made by Allentown Brew Works) Monkey Wrench.
