Tonight, I’m enjoying the Funky Saison “Fickle Mistress” from Peter, the genius home-brewer, at Simply Beer. This Saison-style beer is another excellent addition to Peter’s lineup who, by the way, will have a brewpub of his own at the rate he’s going. At 8.1% ABV this drifts towards the higher end in the sessionable ABV range but the flavor profile puts it right in line.

Peter, the man behind the name Simply Beer and his eccentric, decadent Peanut Butter Porter, delivers again with a generous sample package. All seem enticing, but today I sampled his British Bitter (an English term for Pale Ale) at a mild, but not unusual for the style, 3.4% ABV.

Bell’s Brewery out of Galesburg, Michigan is home to some quiet yet extremely amazing beer. I’ve had their Hopslam Ale before and have had a bottle of their Two Hearted Ale sitting in my fridge for some time now. I felt it was about time to give it a shot and it was well worth the wait. At 7% ABV, this marks the high end of a craft beer drinker’s sessionable range, complete with complementing flavor.

Over this past weekend, Nick and I, along with our friends, stopped by Craft Ale House, one of our favorite spots for an incredible craft beer selection. One of the delicious brews we had on tap for the first time was Gordon Ale at 8.7% ABV from Oskar Blues Brewing Company.
