For the first time ever, the FiftyFifty Brewing Co. Eclipse series beers hit the Philadelphia market, and we were lucky enough to pick up a few varieties. Today, we’re taking a look at the Four Roses Bourbon single barrel aged Eclipse. Shane and Nick, both fans of bourbon, tackle this 9.5% ABV Imperial Stout.

Victory is one of the local landmark breweries in the Philadelphia area. When I think local, I think of the Victory Brewing Company based in Dowingtown, PA. I had the privilege of enjoying a dinner that was accented by a wide selection of Victory beers. Miles Davis, arguably one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, is the focus of the latest Dogfish Head “Occasional Rarities” labeled “Bitches Brew.” This is all in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of his 1970 album by the same name. The bottle is also labeled with the original, iconic artwork of the album.

I found this gem of a beer on the bottom shelf of Wegmans new mixed six-pack section. Normally this brew is on the expensive side of things but at $11 for a mixed six-pack, being able to throw this in is worthwhile! I got the Dogfish Head World Wide Stout. This brew clocked in at an alcoholic’s dream of 18% ABV.

Finding Imperial Stouts in your grocery store can be difficult, as most don’t choose to stock something so strong. That is, unless your grocery store has an awesome beer selection. Sam Adams though has a decent distribution for a craft brewery, making their Imperial Stout easy to find compared to some of the other ones. The Samuel Adams Imperial Stout is part of the Samuel Adams Imperial Series, consisting of the stout, a double bock, and an imperial white.
