Shane and Nick are back with a beer from the Goose Island Beer Company out of Chicago, IL. Sofie, their “Belgian-style Ale” noted as a Saison/Farmhouse Ale, is fermented with wild yeasts (brettanomyces?) and aged in wine barrels with orange peel. This specific bottle Nick has been hanging onto is from 2010, and with notation on the label it will age for up to 5 years, we’re interested to see how it’s holding up after 2 years.

Episode 34: Fantome Magic Ghost (Video)1

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! In this episode, we’re drinking green beer. But, this is no dyed beer, instead it’s the “naturally” green beer Magic Ghost from Brasserie Fantôme in Soy, Belgium. This Saison / Farmhouse Ale is made with green tea and other spices, although we’re not entirely sure the green tea alone causes the green appearance.
