I’m a sucker for anything having to do with dogs, so the black lab on the label of the Dogzilla Black IPA immediately caught my eye. Dogzilla is a 6.9% ABV Black IPA from Laughing Dog Brewing. Black IPAs are truly a best of both worlds beer for me, they bring the hops of an IPA and the malt backbone of a good dark beer. The bottle describes the Dogzilla as being a “true Northwest IPA with a dark malt twist,” so it should provide the flavors I’m expecting.

Left Coast Brewing has been known for some pretty decent beer, in my opinion. They are actually the distribution branch of a brewpub in California called Oggi’s Pizza and Brewing Company. Left Coast can be found in a variety of locations, both East and West coast, including Philadelphia. I’m privileged to have their Black IPA, The Wedge, shipped to me from my dad in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
