I felt it necessary to come back and revisit this brew after enjoying Curmudgeon’s Better Half. I found two bottles of the Founders Curmudgeon hanging out in the back of my beer closet with bottle dates of April 2012. Just to recap really quick for those that didn’t see the video at the time, we thought it was a nice beer with plenty of dark fruits and rich malts.

The latest release in the Founders Backstage Series is their Frangelic Mountain Brown, an American Brown Ale brewed with hazelnut flavored coffee. I’m always intrigued to try anything new in their series, and while I really have no interest in basic Brown Ales, the addition of the flavored coffee is enough to get my attention. Never having had Founders’ take on a Brown Ale and always enjoying their products, I’m intrigued to see how this turns out.
One of the newest buzzed about beers comes out of Denmark from Evil Twin Brewing. Their Imperial Biscotti Break has soared to the top of BeerAdvocate’s Top 100 New Beers, currently sitting in the #2 spot. It’s even more “imperialized” (is that a word?) than their regular Biscotti Break which is billed as an Imperial Porter. So, the Imperial Biscotti Break is a massive 11.50% ABV Imperial Stout made with coffee, vanilla beans and almonds.
