Completing our reader request for a beer review, we have the Sam Adams Noble Pils on draught, at 5.2% ABV. This beer received such an overwhelming response from the beer community that they’ve actually replaced it as their Spring seasonal (the former seasonal was their White Ale).

I tasted this beer on draught, despite what the title picture may look like. The place was Austin’s Restaurant & Bar in Wyomissing, PA. The pour on this was a really crisp, clear yellow. It had a fair fluffly off-white head that settled quickly into a thing ring and did leave some lacing on the glass.

The smell was great, especially for a fan of hops like myself. While it wasn’t too strong, the grassy hops are definitely lifted out of the glass. The latter of the nose consisted of juicy citrus and a subtle biscuit/bread malt.

There were a lot of great flavors coming through this mouthful. The consistency was light-to-medium bodied with a really crisp and refreshing carbonation to it. Immediately I got buttered biscuit malt, a grassy and floral blend of dry hops, creamy spice, and a zesty yet sweet citrus and lemongrass finish.

For the average drinker, this may taste more hoppy than most are used to, but to seasoned craft drinkers, this is still on the mild side of things. Even though Sam Adams is becoming an increasingly larger brewery, they still produce a good brew. Again, definitely not the best German-style Pilsner out there but it’s definitely a sessionable and tasty one.
